Slate Kavalas is a Greek mineral that is excavated at the foot of the Paggaio Mountain in Kavala. The term Slate is due to the characteristic ability to be torn easily into thin sheets, in the direction perpendicular to the direction of compression. The mining is done using digging machines in quarries at Mount Paggaio Kavala which in the first phase of natural stone quarried in large blocks. The large blocks are split by the workers with metal pins and sledge in sheets (slates).
The main types in our production line to the quarries are Crazy paving, Roof Stone, Hand cut paving tiles. Also we proceed with further production to our factory. Our production line is on Tiles – Machine Cut Slate, and Cubes/Cobbles slate. However we have several types of walling stones such as panels, stenari etc. Several commercial projects have been made by using Machine Cut Kavalas, or Cubes/Cobbles kavalas slate as a paving material.
Slate Kavalas is a Natural Stone with a high resistance to frost, high hardness, low degree of weathering and antiskid property, it is also being used for paving roads, sidewalks, Wall tiles, Floor Tiles etc.
